Today I was asked to check if our infrastructure was ready for Windows Server 2012 R2 as guest operating system. I thought it would be handy to share my findings here so you don’t have to find out the compatibility for each product.

Support using 5.0 U3 and higher
Veeam Backup & Replication
Support using 7.0 R2 and higher
McAfee Enterprise AntiVirus
Support using VSE 8.8 Patch 4 and higher (expected December 2013), ePolicy Orchestrator 5.1 and McAfee Agent 4.8 Patch 1.
Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager
Support using 2012 R2 and higher
Microsoft System Center Operations Manager
Support using 2007 R2 and higher using an up-to-date Windows Server Operating System Management Pack.
Supports using 2012 R2 as a client with version 22.214.171.124 and as a NetBackup server when using version 7.6 or higher.
